You make me proud, everyday.

What an awesome sentiment to share with someone. In a world where many do not take the time to acknowledge what people mean to them, let alone say it out loud, this sign stopped me in my tracks.

This perspective comes from a grown-up kid of parents that knew that, "You disappointed me," and "Trust is something earned, not freely given," hurt worse than any anger could have. As I have grown and have gotten to develop my relationships with people, I have found the inherent truths to both of these.
You make me proud, that in and of itself is amazing. To have someone in your life that you can invest some of yourself in, that it genuinely makes you feel joy at their success. When the everyday part is added it can be life changing. Now, I am sincerely not advocating living for others... but I am suggesting that you live in such a way that the people that have a vested interest in your life experience joy with you when you succeed.

Looking back on the twenty-five years that I have had, I can think of several instances that were unarguably disappointing. But at the end of the day I hope to have more that can make someone proud.

You make me proud, everyday. That statement speaks volumes of who said it, and who it was said to. Pride in oneself can become such a hindrance, but pride in others is an altruistic reflection of love and respect you have for someone.

Have you made someone proud today?

  1. I agree with you. Although, I am not sure if I make anyone close to me proud on a daily biases. However, I hope by NOT being a pimple on the butt of society I make someone happy/proud that I'm not milking the system, in jail or hurting others. Sometimes, it's the suddle things in life that we do daily which end up being a huge accomplishment in ours lives and others as well. :)

  2. What a reflective and thought provoking post! I love it!
I am such a believer in "I love you" with everyone, not "I love you, but..." Sometimes this can be said even in a joking manner...such as..."I love you, but, you're driving me crazy." I try not to use the 'but' at all...because I love my children, husband, family, and friends, and there is no but about it. It may never be anything anyone ever realizes I've done, but I think it is important, so I do it.
I am proud of the people I surround myself with on a daily basis - not because you have given me a specific reason every day of the week - but because I know you are all good people. I am proud of each of you simply because of your attributes and how you exist in this world...I don't need a specific act to be proud of.
Anyway, I hope this makes sense! It goes for all of my family, and friends I have in my "real life" as well as my Twi-Friends I have yet to meet. I love and respect you all...and you all make me PROUD! :0)
